Bai Ganyo: The Challenges of the Genre
The article is focused on the one of the most famous
humorous literary works Bai Ganyo by Aleko Konstantinov.
The interest is concentrated on the anecdote as a genre, its place
among the other literary genres and its critical reception. A basic
question for the text is the role of ideology in the field of the
modern Bulgarian literature and its influence on the critical discussion
in that period. The difference between narration and writing is
examined as one of the most important problems, engendered by Aleko
Konstantinov’s work. In order to be complete the analysis
pays heed to the institution of the author and the author’s
role in the text as decisive presence for the text’s
reception.
