The Approach to Europeazation
in a Comedy of Dobri Voynikov

Dobri Voynikov’s comedy The Europeization of the Turk whish was published in Braila in 1876 was almost never researched. Howerer in this one acted play a subject which hasn’t lost its currency even today is worked up. Events in the comedy take place in a small town in North Dobrudga at the Crimea War (1853-1856) time. Main charakter Ibriam efendi is the trickster manager of the small town. By way of reforms he is perceiving Europeanity superficial and with unimportant sides.

When becoming europeanized starts as for he is left no choice but to wear ready–made European style clothes which isn’t known if they will look good on or not and suit or not. Ibriam efendi sees looking like a European as enayoh instead of assimilating Europeanity.
