Balkan Laughter in Renaissance Venice
During the first half of 16th century Venice turns
into a recognized center of comedy writing and theatrical activity.
By that time so called “poesia maccheronica” written
in Venetian mixed with foreign vernacular – Slavic, Turkish
etc. The paper is devoted to the activity and creative works of
Zuan Polo de’Liompardi, a Venetian comedy writer of Slavic
origins, who imposed the “Slavic element” in the Venetian
comedy.
